Commonly known as the Galah, this is a beautiful and very common Australian cockatoo. They have a bright pink chest and face, a grey back, and a light pink crown.

Temperament & Personality

Highly intelligent, energetic, and comical. They can be very affectionate and form strong bonds, but they can also be nippy and require consistent training.

Vocalization & Talking Ability

Fairly good talkers. They can learn a number of words and phrases and have a clear, cheerful voice.

Dietary Needs

A low-fat pelleted diet is essential, as they are very prone to fatty tumors (lipomas). Supplement with plenty of fresh vegetables. Limit seeds and nuts severely.

Health & Lifespan

Can live 40-60 years. Extremely prone to fatty liver disease and lipomas. Diet management is critical. They are also known to be carriers of PBFD.

Housing Requirements

Can be challenging for apartments. They need a spacious cage with plenty of toys to destroy. Minimum 32"W x 24"D x 40"H.
