Extremely playful, intelligent, and outgoing. They can be very affectionate and are known for being clowns. They are also less prone to the high-strung nature of larger cockatoos.

Can be very good talkers, with a clear ability to mimic words and phrases. They are also very vocal with a variety of squawks and calls.

Dietary Needs

A high-quality pelleted diet should form the base. Supplement with fresh vegetables, some fruit, and limited nuts. They are prone to obesity.

A hardy species with a lifespan of 50+ years. Prone to PBFD and fatty liver disease if on an improper diet. Their playful nature requires a lot of enriching toys.

Housing Requirements

Can be challenging for apartments due to their noise level. They need a very durable cage with a strong lock, as they are clever escape artists. Minimum size: 36"W x 24"D x 48"H.
