Temperament & Personality

Known for being extremely affectionate, cuddly, and sensitive. They form incredibly strong bonds with their owners and can be very demanding of attention. A true 'velcro bird'.

Vocalization & Talking Ability

Can learn to talk, but they are not the clearest speakers. They are much more known for their incredibly loud screams.

Dietary Needs

A formulated diet (pellets) is the best base. Supplement with vegetables, some fruits, and nuts. Prone to obesity.

Health & Lifespan

Can live 60-80+ years. Highly prone to feather plucking, self-mutilation, and other stress-related behaviors if they do not receive constant attention. Produce a lot of feather dust.

Housing Requirements

Absolutely not for apartments. They require a huge, incredibly strong cage or aviary with a secure lock. Minimum 48"W x 36"D x 72"H.
