Intelligent, comical, and can be very engaging. They are known for being cranky and nippy if not handled consistently, but can be very affectionate with their chosen people.

A standard macaw diet of pellets, fresh fruits, vegetables, and a moderate amount of nuts.

Health & Lifespan

A generally hardy bird with a lifespan of 30+ years. They can become obese if their diet is too high in fat and they don't get enough exercise.

Housing Requirements

Requires a large cage, at least 36"W x 24"D x 48"H. Their significant noise level makes them a poor choice for apartments.
