Dietary Needs
A high-quality pelleted diet is the foundation. Supplement daily with fresh vegetables and a very small amount of fruit. Avoid all-seed diets.
Health & Lifespan
Generally hardy with a lifespan of 15-20 years. Prone to fatty liver disease if on a high-fat diet, and psittacosis. Females can sometimes have issues with egg-laying.
Housing Requirements
Can be challenging for apartments due to noise. They need a cage that is wider than it is tall, with plenty of toys. Minimum 24"W x 18"D x 18"H.
