Pacific Parrotlet
One of the smallest parrot species, often called 'pocket parrots.' They have a stocky build and a short tail. Males are bright green with a striking cobalt blue streak behind the eye and on the wings, while females are mostly green.

Bold, feisty, and comical. They are known for having a 'big parrot' personality in a tiny body. Can be very affectionate and cuddly, but also territorial and require consistent handling to manage their assertiveness.
Vocalization & Talking Ability
Not known for being great talkers, though some may learn a few words. Their voice is very small and high-pitched. They are more likely to chatter quietly than scream.
Dietary Needs
A high-quality small parrot pellets, fresh vegetables, and fruits. Unlike many parrots, they need some sunflower seeds for extra fat content. Provide mineral blocks and cuttlebone.
Health & Lifespan
Generally hardy and can live 15-20 years despite their small size. Prone to fatty liver disease if on a poor diet. Color mutation birds should not be fed pellets due to potential kidney issues.
Housing Requirements
Perfect for apartments. A cage with bar spacing of 1/2 inch or less is crucial. A minimum cage size of 18"W x 18"D x 18"H is acceptable, but a larger, wider cage is highly recommended to provide ample room for toys and activity.
