Intelligent, outgoing, and comical. They can be very affectionate but are also known for being one of the more nippy conure species if not handled consistently.

Very good talkers. Many can develop a clear and extensive vocabulary, often surprising owners with their ability to mimic.

Dietary Needs

A pelleted diet should be the staple, with a good mix of fresh vegetables, some fruit, and occasional nuts.

Health & Lifespan

Generally a very hardy bird with a lifespan of 15-20 years. They have established feral populations in some areas, attesting to their adaptability. Can be prone to feather plucking.

Housing Requirements

Not a good choice for apartments. Their noise level is high. They need a cage of at least 24"W x 24"D x 36"H.
