Eclectus Parrot
A medium-large parrot with extreme sexual dimorphism. Males are a brilliant emerald green with a candy-corn colored beak, while females are a stunning combination of bright red and royal blue/purple.

Generally calm, gentle, and intelligent. They are less prone to screaming than Amazons or Cockatoos. Females tend to be more dominant and territorial than the more easy-going males.
Vocalization & Talking Ability
Good talking ability with clear, pleasant voices. Both sexes can learn words and phrases, and can be quite chatty, though individuals vary.
Dietary Needs
A specialized diet with a heavy emphasis on fresh fruits and vegetables is crucial. They have a longer digestive tract and cannot handle many artificial ingredients or fortified pellets.
Health & Lifespan
Can live 30-50+ years. Prone to toe-tapping and wing-flipping if their diet is incorrect (too many vitamins/minerals). Sensitive to medications and artificial additives.
Housing Requirements
Large cage minimum 36"W x 24"D x 48". Bar spacing 3/4 to 1 inch. They are less destructive than many large parrots but still need plenty of toys.
