Temperament & Personality

Playful, intelligent, and can be very affectionate. They are known for being relatively 'mellow' for an Amazon but can still be stubborn and strong-willed.

Vocalization & Talking Ability

Very good talkers and can mimic a wide range of sounds. They have clear, human-like voices.

Dietary Needs

An obesity-prone species. Their diet should consist of pellets, a wide array of fresh vegetables, and very limited high-sugar fruits and high-fat nuts.

Health & Lifespan

Can live 50-80 years with proper care. Keep an eye on weight gain. Also susceptible to respiratory infections and sinus problems if not kept in a clean environment.

Housing Requirements

Requires a large space. A minimum cage size of 36"W x 24"D x 48"H is recommended. Not a good choice for apartment dwellers due to noise.
